The photo shown is indeed a real trip down memory lane. The Highfield and Oaklands dairy that I remember was in Elm Grove, at the end of Tarring Road. I was brought up in Ethelred Road and a horse drawn milk float just like this one used to deliver the milk. The milkman’s name was Phil when I was a boy. As a matter of interest I attended The Vale School when I left Thomas A’Becket Infants school at aged eight (1957) and stayed at the Vale until I was eleven, catching the number 5 bus from Tarring to Findon Valley.
The photo is obviously taken in Coombe Rise looking down and west to the, now, Sun Hill nursing home the other side of the valley in High Salvington.
