International Walk To School Walk 17 - 21 May 2010
Dear Parents,
Monday 17 May 2010 sees the start of International Walk To School Week. In this week we will be promoting and rewarding sustainable travel methods to and from school such as walking or “Park and Stride” on every day during this special week.
First School Children For the duration of the week children who have walked to school will be able to gain a sticker on their Walk to School collector card. Monday 17 May Walk to school, collect a collector card (or re-use your existing one) and sticker from a student in a ‘Strider’ T Shirt on the playground. Tuesday 18 – Friday 21May Walk to school, collect a sticker for each day you walk. Hand in collector card to a Strider Student on Friday. Friday 21 or Monday 24 May Your child will be given a badge if they have completed all five days of walking to school.
Middle School Children For the duration of the week, children who have walked to school will be able to gain a sticker on their Walk to School collector card. The collector cards and stickers will be given out by the Strider Students each morning for children who have walked to school on that day. In addition to this, Middle School children will each be given 5 house points for each day they walk to school. This proved a very popular reward with the children last year. Cards with all five stickers will be entered into a prize draw to win a £20 voucher for Broadwater Sports
Park and Stride Car Stickers We shall be selling Park and Stride car stickers on the playground throughout the week. These are priced at 60p each.
High Visibility jackets The safety of the children is always a top priority. Therefore we shall also be selling high visibility jackets in a variety of sizes. These will be sold on the playground for £2.00. We now have high visibility sashes to sell at £6 each, including pink ones! I hope I can look forward to your usual commitment and support for this important event.
Best wishes,
Natasha Boult WALK TO SCHOOL COORDINATOR
