PREVIOUS ALERTS

We have just been made aware of travellers on-site at Hazelwood Trading Estate, Dominion Road, Worthing. Please be alert as other travellers are looking for sites.

We have been advised that travellers are at Lyons Farm Estate, Worthing. All our patrols are stepped up. West Sussex County Council  has been informed and Legal Services.

We have been advised by Sussex Police that a group of travellers has pitched up at the Regis Car Park in Bognor Regis adjacent to the Town Hall. We believe there are four motor homes and two touring caravans. Officers from Environmental Health will be visiting this morning to assess the situation and complete welfare checks. Due to the Bank Holiday weekend it is likely that the Council will be unable to move them on lawfully until next week. Although of course the officers will try to persuade the travellers to move off before next week, it is also likely that the travellers will remain until after the Bank Holiday as they will know that the Courts will be shut over this period.

Worthing Borough Council; and Adur District Council will have officers checking all land.

Just to keep you updated the Height Barrier at Storrington Rise will be installed on Wednesday 27th April 2011. If anything changes I will keep you informed.

The New Age Travellers are based up on the old recycling site at Hazelwick Lane, Sompting. This piece of land is owned By WSCC and they went to court on Monday 4 April 2011. It was decided by the Judge it would have to go for full hearing in approx 8 weeks (date and time to be arranged). Will keep you fully updated.

At this moment in time we believe there are about 25+ caravans which have blocked themselves in on the site so WSCC cannot do any visits at this present time.

I have contacted the suppliers for the Height Barrier at Storrington Rise - hopefully this should be installed in approx 2/3 weeks. Will keep you fully updated.

If you see any invaders, please call the emergency telephone number: 01903 821 992.

We have been advised up to 30 vehicles will be looking for a new site. West Sussex County Council will be going to court on Monday. Could Findon Valley residents be vigilant at all times?
